Quarterly Report Sheds Light on Impact of COVID-19

SAN LUIS OBISPO (July 6, 2020)—Lifewater, a leading Christian water charity focused on bringing clean water, hygiene, and sanitation to families living in extreme poverty, today announces its impact report for January-April of 2020.

The Impact Report includes country updates, key milestones, and a financial report to accompany a letter from Lifewater Chief Executive Officer David LeVan and Board Chair, Karen Tobin. In light of COVID-19, LeVan had encouragement to share with stakeholders.

“Like other nonprofits, Lifewater is facing challenges in this new reality,” he said. “Field work has been delayed and our teams are making difficult choices with reduced budgets…but amidst the challenges, there is good news!”

Organizational Highlights

Active Participants

In 2020, COVID-19 delayed the launch of Lifewater programs in Tanzanian villages, resulting in fewer active participants than planned. Today, 147,696 people are currently involved in Lifewater’s Vision of a Healthy Village strategy for lasting safe water access.

COVID-19 Relief

In March of 2020, Lifewater began providing immediate relief to the communities impacted by COVID-19 in Lifewater’s countries of operation. By the end of April, staff provided the following:
